Songs of the Fleet

Saturday 30th March 2019 at St. Matthew’s Church, Chapel Allerton

Performance starts at 7.30pm

Songs of the Fleet is a joint concert with Voces Seraphorum.  The concert will feature a performance of Songs of the Fleet by Charles Villiers Stanforda cycle of five songs for baritone, mixed chorus, and orchestra, to poems by Henry Newbolt

It will also feature performances of Williams’ The Wasps, and Elgar’s Imperial March, as well as a new piece commissioned by the WRO: Journey to the Promised Land by Shaun Rafferty.

Tickets cost £8 / £5 (concessions). Tickets can be purchased in advance via Eventbrite, or can be purchased on the night.

Did you know?

Songs of the Fleet was one of three pieces to premiere in Leeds at the 1910 Leeds Festival. The other two pieces were Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Second Symphony and Ralph Vaughan Williams’ A Sea Symphony.
